Dr. Hali Nguyen was born in Arlington, TX and received her bachelor's degree at the University of Notre Dame. She then completed medical school and residency at UT Southwestern in Dallas. While in Dallas, an interest in health disparities and community-based nutrition interventions led to a Master of Public Health. She learned to speak Spanish after taking classes in college then studying abroad in Puebla, Mexico.
She loves spending time with her husband and toddler twin boys, and in her free time, she enjoys DIY activities around the house, painting, calligraphy, baking and playing ukulele.
Dr. Juan W. Arias was born in Mexico City where he attended the National Autonomous University of Mexico, graduated with a Doctor in Medicine degree. He finished a Post graduate Internship in Canada and moved to the USA. Completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wesson Women’s Hospital in Springfield, MA. He then moved to Texas where he finished his training in Maternal/Fetal medicine at the University of Texas in Houston. He stayed as an assistant professor for two years and moved to Dallas where he practiced for more than 30 years with Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Has been working at LBUCC as volunteer for approximately 20 years and became part time physician at the OB/GYN division at LBUCC since 2019. He is married and has 4 children. He enjoys the outdoor activities and his family.
Dr. Ruiz Vega, , DDS, is a Dallas native and a National Health Service Corp Scholar. He completed his undergraduate degree at Southern Methodist University and later obtained his Doctor in Dental Surgery at Texas A&M College of Dentistry. His passion for community health led him to further develop his competence in pediatric dental care by completing a Fellowship in Compromised Care and Hospital Dentistry at Texas A&M. He also holds a position as an Adjunct Volunteer Faculty at Texas A&M School of Dentistry under the Pediatric Dental department. Dr. Ruiz Vega’s mission is to provide the finest quality dentistry to underserved communities. Professional memberships include the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and Special Care Dentistry Association.
Dr. Eduardo Torres was born in Puerto Rico. He graduated from Medical School and completed his OBGYN training at the University of Puerto Rico in 2001 and 2005 respectively. He moved to the United States in 2005 and worked in Virginia for 8 years and then in Tyler Texas for 6 years. Dr. Torres joined Los Barrios in Sept 2019.
He is fluent in Spanish and has a special interest in managing normal and complicated pregnancies.
Dr. Torres is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2006 and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists.
Dr. Zareen Tasneem is dual Board certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine with over 20 years of clinical experience, serving at LBU Community Clinic.
Dr. Tasneem provides a wide range of medical care for her patients including family medicine, weight loss management, women's health and adult medicine. She looks forward to meeting new patients and helping families make their health a top priority.
Dr. Tasneem is a member of American Academy of family Medicine, Obesity medicine associates and American medical association. Dr Tasneem completed her training at Wyckoff Height Medical center NY, during training was awarded ‘Star Resident’, and served two years as a chief Resident where she supervised residents and medical students. She completed her internship in the field of Medicine including cardiology, oncology, surgery and pediatrics at Aga Khan University Hospital.
Dr. Tasneem holds certifications in pediatric advanced life support, basic life support, advanced cardiovascular life support.
Dr. Tasneem is a published physician, fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, and has a working fluency in Spanish.
Dr Tasneem resides in DFW metroplex with her family. As a family they enjoy traveling, sports and canoeing.
Jhudy Mohan, NP, a doctoral-prepared family nurse practitioner, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, joined LBU Community Clinic in February 2009. She was born in India where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from College of nursing, Indore, India. She has been in the medical profession for over 30 years starting out as a critical care nurse. She completed the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Texas Tech University Health Science with a Master of Science in Nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of South Alabama.
She is a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner and Registered nurse in the state of Texas. She is a member of American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Texas Nurse Practitioners, and North Texas Nurse Practitioners. She is board certified by American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
She enjoys working with Los Barrios patients with acute and chronic needs. Her job duties include diagnosing illnesses and conditions, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, conducting examinations, providing counseling, and prescribing medications.
She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Malayalam, and is working to improve her Spanish language skills. She is married with two daughters and a son and enjoys spending time with family, attending church activities, reading, and traveling.
Dr. Jill Strachan-Batson completed her undergraduate degree at Howard University in Washington DC, her medical education at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and her residency training at Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx, NY. She is Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Medicine.
Dr. Batson is fluent in Spanish language and has spent her 20 years of career caring for vulnerable populations including at risk youth and homeless individuals and families. She is a native New Yorker who enjoys traveling, jazz music and book clubs. Dr. Batson is married to her husband of 30 years. They have two children and one dog, Luna.
