Leonor Marquez, MBA, MSW, LCSW

Chief Executive Officer

Leonor Márquez is the Chief Executive Officer of LBU Community Clinic. Leonor has spent more than 30 years in community health care.

She has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Arizona State University, a Master of Social Work degree from Our Lady of the Lake University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She holds a current Texas license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

She joined LBU Community Clinic in 2005 and leads a team of 260 employees with a budget of $25 million. The health center serves 30,000 customers through 90,000 doctor/patient visits, most of whom are low income and uninsured. She has also worked as an administrator at Parkland Health where she ran the Health Care for the Homeless Program and the School Based Clinics. She worked for many years in San Antonio as a Director at CentroMed, a large community health center.

Claudia Aroni, MBA, MHSMN, RHIT

Chief Technology Officer

Claudia Aroni serves as the Chief Technology Officer, at LBU Community Clinic.

Claudia earned a certificate in bilingual education from Dallas County Community College, now Dallas College. While working at LBU Community Clinic, she trained at Parkland Hospital and earned an AAS in Health Information Technology from DeVry University. To obtain her Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Texas State University in San Marcos, she trained at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine. Claudia also holds dual Master in Business Administration and Master in Health System Management degrees from Texas Woman’s University in Denton.

In addition to her professional work experience, she teaches English as second language and US civics through Catholic Charities of Dallas Refugee Empowerment Services. For self-care, she volunteers at Austin Street Center, the largest low barrier homeless shelter in Dallas, and enjoys running, indoor cycling, reading sci-fi novels, drinking coffee, going to the Opera, and listening to live music.

Joleen Bagwell

Chief Development Officer

Joleen Bagwell joined LBU Community Clinic in 2008 as Director of Development & Marketing. Joleen has been a nonprofit professional for 40 years, focusing largely on fundraising, marketing, and building organizational effectiveness.

Joleen has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland and is a Certified Fundraising Executive with countless hours of fundraising and marketing training, honed by 40 years of getting the job done.

Joleen launched the organization’s first brand refresh and advertising initiative.  From Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic to the more contemporary LBU Community Clinic, the new name and logo evoke a modernized, top-notch medical system which is welcoming to all communities.

Dr. Christopher Choat, OD

Compliance Officer

Dr. Christopher Choat is the Compliance Officer of LBU Community Clinic.  An optometrist in practice since 2002, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2002. Dr. Choat joined LBU in August of 2015 as staff optometrist and Compliance Officer.

Prior to joining LBU, Dr. Choat served as Assistant Professor of Optometry and Chief Compliance Officer at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas where he taught courses on medical law, vision rehabilitation, neuroanatomy, and ocular motility.  He also spent 10 years in private practice focused on low vision rehabilitation.

Dr. Sharon Davis, DO

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Sharon Davis is the Chief Medical Officer of LBU Community Clinic. Dr. Davis is a board-certified family practitioner that has been in practice 27 years.

Dr. Davis did her medical training in Texas at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She completed her family practice residency program in Dallas at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School’s program located in Methodist Medical Center.

Dr. Davis has a passion for providing medical care to the underserved. She has volunteered in multiple local medical outreach events.

Dr. Liz Lindsey, DNP, APRN, FNP-C

Chief Operating Officer

Dr. Liz Lindsey is the Chief Operating Officer of LBU Community Clinic. Dr. Lindsey is board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and has been for 11 years.

Dr. Lindsey attended El Centro College and graduated in 2006 with her associate degree in nursing. She then continued her education and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2009, her Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2012, and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice degree in 2018, all of which she received from Texas Woman’s University.

Dr. Lindsey’s passion is to work with underserved communities, which she has done for almost 8 years. She has served as Clinic Manager and Chief Medical Officer, which allowed her direct oversight of operations and the quality of care delivered to patients. She has also served as an adjunct professor teaching clinicals at the Louise Herrington Baylor School of Nursing.  Dr. Lindsey authored Evaluation of a Palpable Breast Mass in a Young Female: Implications When Working with Underserved Populations, published in the Journal of Women’s Health, Issues, and Care, Volume 7, Issue 3.  When she is not helping others, you can find Dr. Lindsey spending time with her husband and family, at her church and traveling.
